1/32 Tamiya F-15J

204SQ 10th Anniversary

To build this awesome version of the F-15 Eagle I used the Tamiya 1/32 scale F-15J JSDF kit along with the Verlinden 1/32 scale tailpipes.  In order to get the paint scheme somewhat correct I enlarged the decals that came with the 1/48 scale Hasegawa kit and using sticker paper and friskett paper, I made the stencils to airbrush probably 99% of this kit, there is very few decals and most of those are the ones that go on the bottom around the vents and gear, otherwise everything else is airbrushed.

The upper portions of the warriors on the tail were printed on decal paper and the blue/black areas were airbrushed.  Needless to say it was a learning experience because I painted all the details first then the blue and finally the original aircraft grey.  To match the colors on the aircraft, I used Floquils Reefer White (130011), Dark Blue (110050), Boxcar Yellow and Model Masters Red along with the standard light ghost/dark ghost greys..

Overall I think the kit came out OK for being mostly airbrushed.  However the kit no longer looks like it did when I finished it, I sold it to an individual in California and he wanted to enter it into the Tamiya 06 Contest so I shipped it overnight using USP and needless to say when he got it, it was no longer in the same condition, so before paying $120 to ship a kit like this because you think you’re dealing with professionals, give it some thought because they are not professionals.

Please for those that want to write and criticize the kit, please don’t, it’s not perfect nor is it 100% correct, I know that.  For those that have any questions or would like to see some other pictures of the kit or the few pictures I could find of the actual aircraft, feel free to email me.
