Hello, I'm Ernesto and this is my first submission. It should have been a model but I'm still working on several of them, anyway, today I wanted to show what was it like here in Monterrey, Mexico last weekend. La Silla Scale Model Club held their annual contest and expo. A brief note in the main local paper attracted a lot of the general public to the event.

Since I spent all Saturday at the Monterrey Hobbies vendor table, I was unable to keep track of all winners but my regards to Mr. Nunez, Mr. Vidal, Mr. Ramirez and the modelers behind the ork army, the scratch-built German Gun on rails (almost 4 feet in length!) and the U-boats; truly outstanding!

First a few overall pics of the event, the only chance I had to take this was during the evaluation time when doors were closed to the general public. The judges had a hard time choosing winners in several categories

Next photo shows the true spirit of the hobby, Mr Nunez (with an Afrika Korps uniform and winner that night of many awards) who had just bought a very nice Eduard Fw190-A chats with a young boy who just bought his first ever model, a Tamiya Dornier Pfiel, talk about a nice first project!

Next is a selection of models, many of them winners and some being my personal favorites.

Diorama of Japanese platoon has a cloud with the following quote: "Hey Boss, there's a taco stand around the corner!".

Also, a few members of the club dressed as soldiers of the Afrika Korps and brought some gear: replicas of WWII BMW motorcycle with sidecar and a Kubelwagen, poor of the chap who showed up in Allied uniform didn't have a chance against that plastic MP assault rifle!
