"What If" 1/72 V-22 Osprey

Silly Week 2008

Once upon a weekend not too long ago...I decided to start on this 72nd scale Hobbycraft kit of the V-22 Osprey.  While I was starting this kit, I decided to finish it with some leftover  Canadian decal sets that I had bought at the local hobby shop at 25c each a while back before this kit (these of course where error printing sets from some company which most were useable). I had up some paints I was almost out of, these being Model Master no: 1704(Amour Sand FS30277) and MM Field Green? I think , since I no longer have the bottle and airbrushed a camo scheme with these colours that I think turned out pretty good.

Starting with the interior, I wanted to add more detail to this build as the kit has sparse details included.  I had cut out the ramp and strb door for open position and then started adding and adding and adding...on the interior.  I used strips of cardboard cut out to size to fit inside cabin/cargo area and used masking tape inverted (sticky side out), and once the pieces were dry fitted to the sides

( 3 in all-both sides, and floor) then sprayed the shaped cardboard with grey primer. Added spare parts and cut strips of tape for harnesses (painted red before cutting) and after this was all done I added the inside cabin roof using the inverted masking tape to form inside over fuselage sides while sealing the two halves together.  I used two metal rods to add to the ramp assembly, super gluing them and had used some metal thread for side door in open position after fuselage was set.  Of course it isn't to spec, and doesn't look too busy for a 72nd scale I think...  The exterior I added some pieces for my version of beacon, antennas and flare dispensers.  I added some figures and ground equipment from another model diorama for this submission.  Will most likely build one for this some day...All in all this kit was fun to build and adding the scratch built details inside and a few exterior add-on's teaching myself some new techniques to use in the future.  Always wondered if Canada would have perfected the CL-84 Dynavert to add to the CAF.  Even though the concept is or was the same as this V-22. OH YEAH!, that's why I built this as a "what if".. :/

My next project is the Kamov KA-32 (Canadian civilian version from VIH {Vancouver Island Helicopters} leased for DART in Pakistan 2005 and decals from CMA...:}
