RAAF

G'day All!  This is my first submission to ARC after seeing all the fantastic builds on this website for about 4 years.  Finally I think I have something up to the standard posted here. Kit is the Hasegawa F/A-18B "NASA" boxing, OOB.  The only addition is the Aussie Decals sheet for 'Daphne De Dual".  Daphne was the name originally given to an RAAF Mirage IIIO, and when the RAAF accepted the Hornet into service the name was passed onto a Block A F/A-18B serial A21-106.  Unfortunately the aircraft was lost in far northern Australia in an exercise, killing both crew.

The kit was painted using Testors ModelMaster enamels and weathered lightly using an oil wash and pastels.  The landing gear was painted with Tamiya white, using citadel acrylics for the details, whilst the exhaust cans were painted with Testors Metalizers.  I tried to keep it subtle, RAAF jets tend not to show much weathering unless deployed for long periods.

Please enjoy my Hornet, and please send any constructive feedback or questions by clicking on the envelope at the top of this webpage.
