This is 1/48 Tamiya Spitfire Mk.Vb trop finished with TuAF markings .

In July 1944 39 Spitfire Mk.Vb were sent from RAF Mediterranean stocks. This was followed by 71 Spitfire Mk.Vc’s and 3 recconnaissance version came in February 1945.  Mk.Vb’s were deployed at the 5th and 6th Regiments in TuAF.  They were replaced by the P-47 D30 Thunderbolts and Spitfire Mk9  in 1948.

The construction started  with the painting of cockpit components to RAF interior green.

The cockpit is modified with the following parts.

  • - Eduard PE instrument panel

  • - Ultracast Spitfire resin seat

  • - Cutting Edge  GM2 gunsight

The additional replacement parts are ;

  • -Ultracast Spitfire MkV exhaust

  • -The elevators from Ultracast Spitfire MkV Control surfaces set.

The painting was done mostly with Gunze Sangyo acrylics.  On the upper surfaces I used Gunze ‘s Dark earth and Middlestone.  Underside is painted to “RAF Azure blue” by using a mixing from Tamiya acrylics.  The square national insignias are from Turquoise decals as usual.  Black Code numbers (5514)  are “home made” by my friend Özkan Türker.  It s finished after a matt coat from Gunze.

Happy Modelling
