This decal sheet from
Leading Edge Models provides a
full set of markings in 1/72 scale for two different Fire Bombers. One of
these is with the Province of Ontario and the fire bomber with "AirSpray"
on the side is from the Province of Alberta. The Province of Ontario is in central Canada north of the great
lakes....it's largest city being Toronto. Ontario has vast forest and
fighting fires in these forests is done with water bombers due to the availability
of lakes. Alberta is the second Province in from the West Coast of Canada
and also has found fire bombers to be a very effective way to combat isolated
fires. Because these are fire bombers....the paint schemes are quite
bright to help the aircraft 'stand out' while flying it's dangerous missions and
to aid in search and rescue missions if this fire bomber was to ever
crash....which is always a very real possibility for water bombers.
Both aircraft are in
a special paint
scheme of overall bright yellow with black stripes. On the leading edges
of the wings and tail are bright dayglow orange decals. This yet another
very Canadian decal sheet of an aircraft that has proven to be critical to life
in Canada. The decals are very complete and beautifully
printed. One very complete page of B&W instructions is included
covering all the tiny special details you'll need to avoid any problems while
applying these decals as well as 4 view black and white drawings as well as 4
view colour images (see above). The two planes featured on this decal
sheet are basically the same with the exception of numbers and letters on the
wings and fuselage. The first aircraft is "C-GDRS 262" and the
second aircraft is "C-GOFR 268". Both paint schemes are the same
except "C-GOFR 268" has the words "Air Spray" instead of
"Ontario" on the side of the fuselage.
The decals are
contained on 2 decal sheets. The printing quality
and colours and registration is all first rate and up to Leading Edge Models
top class quality. This is a very recommended decal sheet for anyone that
likes building the Canadian aircraft or people with an interest in fire bombers
or flying boats.
Special thanks to
