This latest decal sheet from Cutting Edge Modelworks features three early Messerschmitt Bf-109 B/D's.  The recommended kit would be either the Hobbycraft Bf-109B/C/D or the Academy Bf-109 B/C/D.

The first aircraft is a Bf-109 D-1 flown by Hptm Werner Molders, Staffelkapitan 3.J/88 in November 1938.  This pre-war fighter is overall RLM 62 green with RLM 65 blue underside and a white rudder with a black cross (as you would see on aircraft operating in Spain).  The prop spinner is red and the wingtips are white.  The national markings are black circles on the fuselage and black circles with white crosses on the wings.  For artwork this plane has a pistol toting "Mickey Mouse" character on the fuselage behind the cockpit.  On the engine panels is the word "Luchs" (Lynx) and the big black numbers on the side of the fuselage are 679.

The second aircraft is a Bf-109 B-2 flown by Uffz. Wilhelm Staege, 2.J/88, Legion Condor Alar d' el Ray in August 1937.  This pre-war fighter is overall RLM 62/63 green/green with RLM 65 blue underside and a white rudder with a black cross (as you would see on aircraft operating in Spain).

The prop spinner is RLM 70 or RLM 62 and the wingtips are white.  The national markings are black circles on the fuselage and black circles with white crosses on the wings.  For artwork this plane has a black Top Hat.  On the engine panels is the word "Luchs" (Lynx) and numbers on the sire of the fuselage are big black 630.

The third aircraft is a Bf-109 D-1 flown by Lt.Herman Reifferscheidt, 1./JG131, in March 1939.  This pre-war fighter is overall RLM 70/71 green/green with RLM 65 blue underside and a white crosses on the rear of the fuselage and on top of the wings.  The prop spinner is RLM 70.  The national markings are black German crosses on the fuselage and wings.  For artwork this plane has a white Shield with a red "R" in the centre.  On the rear fuselage is a large white #3 and what appear to be question marks  on the tails horizontal flying surfaces.

The Bf-109 is always a popular model but this sheet features markings for an early plane flown by one of the most impressive Aces of WW2.

The instructions include 2 view colour drawing of these 3 planes as well as a extra page of text instructions.  The decals are flawless and clearly printed with perfect registration.  special credit goes to Mike Lampros for his research help on this decal sheet.

I highly recommend this sheet to anyone interested in early 109's
