This new decal sheet from Cutting Edge Modelworks includes markings for two different 1/48 P-40's.

The first aircraft is a P-40F with the 79th FG/85th FS out of Tunisia in late 1942.  The paint scheme is a desert camo with Dark Earth and Middle Stone on top and Deep Azure Blue on the underside.  Squadron artwork on the lower engine cowling is a winged skull flying through the sky.  The artwork on the rudder on the tail is a beautiful naked blonde with a classic 1940's hairstyle in a sitting position with her breasts fully exposed.  The artwork for this aircraft has a white decal to go underneath the noseart decal.  On the side of the rear fuselage are the white code letters "X2 8".   Reference photos are inconclusive and the last code # could be an "8" or "9", so an 8 and 9 decal are included.  The prop spinner cone is red.

The second aircraft is a P-40E is a P-40F with the 49th FG/8th FS flown by Lt. Monty Eisenberg out of Strauss Field, Darwin Australia in June 1942.  The paint scheme is Olive Drab on top and Neutral Gray on the underside.  White text on the lower engine cowling is "DOLLYE" and there is artwork on the rear fuselage just behind the cockpit of a fully nude Brunette with a classic 1940's hairstyle in a sitting position with her breasts fully exposed.  The artwork for this aircraft has a white decal to go underneath the noseart decal.  On the side of the tail are the yellow serial numbers "44".   The prop spinner cone is Olive Green or medium Blue.

The noseart decals are delicate and two are included for each plane in case you mess up the first ones.  Exacting instructions are included on how to prepare and install these decals…..read these instructions carefully to avoid disaster.  Apparently these noseart decals are very thin and need special care, but once installed they will look very accurate and realistic.  The nose art decals are printed on a one piece decal sheet, so you’ll need to cut the decal free from the rest of the decal film…..patience is the key here.  The noseart decal is beautifully printed with fantastic detail and lovely shading.

The instructions are clear and include 4 views of each aircraft and an extra 2 pages of text instructions  with a small bit of info about both the planes as well as helpful tips for decal application.

A very nice decal sheet and  sure to please the lucky 300 people that manage to buy one of these limited edition sheets.
